A Princess (Finally) Poops in the Potty :)

When we potty trained Clara a year ago, we had no idea what to expect…however, we didn't realize the degree of difficulty of getting her to go #2 in the potty. We tried EVERYTHING. We would try hard for a week, get no results and try again in another month. And the more we pushed, the worse it got. It was traumatic for all of us and disruptive to our whole family. She had real fear of something. We figured she wouldn't be pooping in a diaper when she was 20.
We hoped (and there were some days I wondered).

And then one day two weeks ago she woke up from nap, sat on the toilet, and did the deed. Just like that. And the saga was over.

All in her own time, I guess:)

In this whole process, we pretty much promised her the world. I made up a chart for the bathroom of what she would get for pooping in the potty. Here are some of the things we tried to use to motivate her:
-a date with just daddy
-making cookies with mommy
-a new frilly dress
-candy
-a playdate with her good friend Brielle
-a wagon
-a party
-a baby brother (I told you we tried everything to motivate her)  :)

When she first started going on the potty, we were afraid she would stop. So we would give her a small surprise. This whole ordeal was getting quite expensive! Daddy put her blue wagon together today and we had her party last Sunday. We are officially done bribing her:) I will say we are VERY happy & relieved parents with preschool looming in the near future.

Way to go Princess C!

Clara was most excited about this party. Her requests were:
-Girls dress like princesses and boys like Prince Charming
-a sparkly floor (we compromised on this one)
-strawberry cake with strawberry frosting with a cherry on top
-singing to her before she blew out a candle on her cake
-dancing

This party was a first for us. A party like we have never been to before!

A proud daddy.

Clara took this most seriously.

I got out an old prom dress. Clara really liked it. The sequins are very her and I am supposed to put it in her closet for when she is older.
I will tell you this party was quite fun. A lot of laughs were had.

This was our "she finally pooped on the potty" faces.

A farm princess and her papa.

We looked good.

We sang to the princess before she blew out her candle.

Uncle enjoyed the party!

The party happened on our #6 wedding anniversary.
One we will remember always:)
