The girls had their first softball season (sort of). It was short and we never traveled. But they learned a lot and I was thankful for the less serious season. It was good for both of them. We had decided to move Ellsy up early so she would be on the same team as Clara. Watching them play is my favorite!
Softball sisters.
An American Anniversary. Ben and I spent #10 in Washington, D.C.
One for the memory books. It was virtually empty due to the pandemic and I enjoyed spending the day with two of my favorite guys.
Visiting Washington, D.C. was on my bucket list. I love history. Not how I imagined it (no going inside buildings), but just being there gave me history goose bumps.
Ben wanted a picture besides the Department of Agriculture. Farmer at heart.
My cousin Tel is interning in D.C. this summer and we were able to meet him for lunch.
He is serving as the KSU Student Body President this year. Go Tel!
The purpose of our trip out east was to attend my future sister-in-law's
bridal shower as well as meet her family.
"Aunt Em" as we are going to call her so as not to be confused with Iowa "Aunt Emily" is one of five kids. Her oldest sister is a party planner extraordanaire and headed up the shower.
While I was at the shower with the girls, Ben got to go crabbing with the guys.
He loved it. Even after confirming there were sharks in the water 🤣.
Aunt Em's youngest brother is 15.
He is hilarious and reminds me SO much of a younger Troy and Tanner.
The bridal party.
Sisters for life 💛
While we were away, the girls had a Menold vacation.
They were glad we came back, but did just fine.
The day after we got back, Ellsy got her tonsils and adenoids out.
This winter she started having ear trouble, losing her hearing at times as well as having a lot of pain.
This spring she started snoring so bad that the shingles rattled 😉 The doctor also noticed her breathing was pausing during sleep after watching her on video. Yikes!
The doctor said they very much needed to come out. There was only a sliver of room between her tonsils and uvula for air and food to go through. Hence the snoring and hopefully the reason she has developed an aversion to eating meat.
She had to stay in the surgery room longer than usual due to covid. She woke up wanting her mama and got "wild eyes" (they kept repeating that to me), so they had to put her back to sleep.
They cleared her to go home...
Due note that I advise having a barf bucket in the car following a tonsillectomy.
Once we got in the car, she vomited several times.
"This is bad" she said.
At home, resting with Spirit.
Ronin spent two weeks with us.
On his final night, I gave him a bath so he smelled good for Troy's return. :)
Ellsy in the recovery room.
Her sisters had a hard time not being able to watch TV and eat popsicles 24/7.
Clara lost another tooth!
Clara gardening.
Professional pooper scooper.
She loves the job.
Softball team picture.
Another minefield for mom.
I didn't know what I was getting myself into with this tonsil thing...
Those white things are scabs that eventually fall off.
Fourth of July festivities
💙 I love how she is holding onto him.
Stars and stripes.
The girls didn't want to show how tall the corn was...so mom did!
Ben made up a treasure hunt for the girls on the Fourth of July. Supposedly pirates treasure:) Not sure what they were doing in Kansas. 🤣
He had clues to find different spots. One of the spots was "our" engagement cliff.
Sweaty just like we were that day almost 11 years ago!
They found the treasure!
DeeDee tagged along to help.
